Our Beardies:

POTTERDALE CRANBERRY FOR PSAMMYAD

(Ch Potterdale Prophet x Potterdale Persona)

SCRUMPY JACK (SJ) was born on Christmas Day in 1998.  His father, Rudi (Ch Potterdale Prophet), coincidentally was also born on Christmas Day.  Rudi is not only a record breaker in the beardie world but was also top show dog (all breeds!) in the year 2000.  Unfortunately, we were unable to show SJ but, as one door closed others opened and we became involved in areas other than showing.  SJ became a PAT (Pets as Therapy)dog at an early age and regularly visited the local hospital and residential homes.  We also developed a keen interest in the agility world and after some expert tuition we quickly 'won out' of both Elementary and Starter classes and regularly competed, with some success at the Intermediate level.  Due to a minor injury SJ is now in semi-retirement although he still regularly trains, and competes on occasions, because he enjoys it so much.

ALLHIKERS SCINTILLATION TO PSAMMYAD

(Ch Desborough Declaration x Orora's Ebony and Ivory by Allhiker)

(9th January 1992 - 9th December 2003)

TILLY was not our first dog but she was our first beardie.  She was the one who developed our love for this breed.  When we got Tilly her breeder, Adele Hall, was keen for us to show her and this we did - starting by winning at, the then, Exemption Shows and going on to some big wins at Open Shows.  Lots of people suggested that we should show her at Championship level.  Now, Tilly was not an easy dog to show as she had to meet and greet everyone in a very boistrous way - including the judges!!  This was quite endearing at the lower levels but not really appreciated at the highest level!!  However, we did manage to win two Challenge Certificates but unfortunately the third was not forthcoming.  Many top judges told us that she 'lost' more CC's than she won because of her over friendly behaviour.  Tilly was a fantastic dog and, although difficult to show, she was an absolute joy to live with and Ann and myself would not have changed her for anything in the world.

POTTERDALE NUTMEG FOR PSAMMYAD

(Potterdale Professional x Potterdale Praline )

MILLICENT was born on the 22nd January 2004, just over a month after we lost our dear Tilly.  We had planned to get another girl and had spoken to Janet Lewis (Potterdale) on a number of occasions.  We particularly wanted one from that particular litter as we were so pleased with Scrumpy Jack and the puppies were closely related.  Janet gave us the pick of the litter but, as is always the case, Millie picked us rather than the other way around.  We wanted Millie for both agility and for showing but unfortunately, due to circumstances we were unable to show very much, or to really get the agility training started very early.  Millie did do very well at local shows as a puppy winning BPIS and even BIS on occasions.  Her only major show was the Bearded Collie Club Championship where she gained both best puppy bitch and best puppy in show.  Her agility training has been slow to date due to commitments but we are now hoping to put more effort into this and you can follow her progress in 'Millicents Agility Blog'.
